Geometry

Hello Everyone. It was nice to be back in class today, but hard to leave my girls at home.

A refresher from last week:

Mr. Stone took over my class on Monday with no lesson plans ready (my wife had our new daughter at 5:06 AM that morning). He did a great job reviewing lessons 1 and 2-preparing the students for their test on Thursday. On Thursday, Mrs. Filipy took over my class and students took a test over lessons 1 and 2. They then watched the lesson3 video and began lesson 3. Students were only to complete 3A, but I made the mistake of not warning everyone to bring protractors (I must have been busy with something!). Today we skipped lesson 3 and began lesson 4. Students were assigned 4A, 1-8, 4B, 1-5, and 4C, 1-8 and 12-20. These problems are due Thursday. We will go back to lesson 3 on Thursday and learn how to measure angles with a protractor. All students need to bring a protractor to class Thursday.

Pre-Algebra

Hello everyone. It was nice to be back in class today, but hard to leave my girls at home :(

A refresher from the last week:

Last Monday, the 20th, Mr. Stone took over my classroom. He did a great job with the students and with no lesson plans (thanks to me and my baby girl) moved on to Lesson 3. He assigned Lesson Practice 3A and Systematic Review 3D and 3E. This should have been completed by Thursday the 23rd. On Thursday, Mrs. Filipy took over my class with incorrect lesson plans. It must have been my lack of sleep that warped my memory. She did a great job with the students, giving them the test I had prepared and moving on to the next lesson. Students were assigned 4A and 4D. Those should have been completed by today.

Today we corrected the test in class and had a quick review of the first four lessons. We then moved on to lesson 5. I assigned 5A and 5B. These should be completed by Thursday.

I will have assignments updated on WINGS by the end of the week-sorry for the delay.

Hello everyone. Sorry I have not been at school all week, but on Monday morning i became a daddy! It has been an awesome, busy, tiring week. I have learned a lot about what my own parents went through (three times) when I and my siblings were born. I have developed an even greater respect for them.

My beautiful daughter, Annelise Rae Richardson, was born at 5:06 AM on Monday, September 20th. She came 27 days early, but weighed a healthy 5 pounds, 13 ounces. She is small, but doctors say she is a healthy and nearly perfect baby girl. We are truely blessed! Her mother and my wife, Jayme, is doing great. She was awesome through the process and like my parents, has gained even more respect from me! I love my girls soooooooo much!
See you all Monday

Welcome

Welcome all to the beginning of the 2010-2011 scholl year at Three Rivers Homelink. I am very excited to meet all the new students and see all the returning students. I hope you all had a great summer. Mine was mostly spent at the baseball field as I coached the Kennewick Dusters Junior Legion Baseball Team. The other exciting thing I did this summer was watch my wife grow-as we are expecting our first child in October! We do not know if it will be a boy or girl, despite the overwhelming student support last spring to find out what it is!

This blog will be used to update parents and students of what we are doing in class. The classes that I will update on a weekly basis are Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Health. Each update will include what we did in class and what assignments were given. My goal is to have a calendar to hand out each month of what we will be doing for that entire month. I will try to follow it as closely as possible, but there are times that I will make some adjustments. I will do my best to notify you of any changes. Assignments will also be posted on WINGS under the given class.

I am looking forward to a fun year. Please do not hesitate to e-mail me with any questions at Grant.Richardson@rsd.edu. You can also try to call my room at 509-967-6460. Thank you and I will see you all soon!
